On top of the weekly payment, receiving Attendance Allowance may increase your Pension Credit by up to £81.50/week through the severe disability addition — bringing the potential total annual value to over £11,000 when combined with Pension Credit uplift and Council Tax Reduction.

What Determines How Much Attendance Allowance You Get?

The DWP awards the higher rate if you need help both during the day and at night, or if you are terminally ill. If you need help either during the day or at night (but not both), you receive the lower rate.

Could You Be Getting More?

Many people are awarded the lower rate when they should be receiving the higher rate. This is often because their nighttime care needs were not fully described on the application form. At Elder Care, we ensure your form reflects your full care needs — and many of our clients receive the higher rate as a result.
